How Life Is – My Favorite Poems

Life has dealt a rough hand to someone really close to me. Although there has been no change in my life but the differences are all too apparent.

I am in no condition to write but did not want to miss this week. So, I decided to share 3 of my favorite poems with you.

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF- Thinking by Walter Wintle

If you think you are beaten, you are,
If you think you dare not, you don’t.
If you like to win, but you think you can’t,
It is almost certain you won’t.

If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost,
For out in the world we find,
Success begins with a fellow’s will.
It’s all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are,
You’ve got to think high to rise,
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.

Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man.
But soon or late the man who wins,
Is the man who thinks he can.

Lesson: The importance of self-belief is evident in life’s small and big successes. Fake it till you make it. True for a smile and self-confidence.

DON’T SETTLE – The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Lesson: Never ever be afraid to do what you want to even if it’s not a popular path.

NEVER GIVE UP – Don’t Quit by Anonymous

Never give up Image Credits

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill;
When the funds are low and the debts are high-
When you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit:
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit!

Don’t you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns.
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out!
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow-
You may succeed with another blow!

Success is failure turned inside out-
The silver tints of the clouds of doubt;
And you can never tell how close you are-
It may be near when it seems so far.
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit:
It’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit!

Lesson: It is in the times of deep worry that success seems so elusive. But don’t give up even though you want to. Success is just near the corner. Go for it and live it up.

Life Lessons From a Rose

I am a rose. Today I invite you to witness a beautiful journey, a journey of my amazingly brilliant life.

Once, a seed was sown by some nice man. The seed after being immersed in soil for so long-lost its existence to the soil. It lost its identity and individuality. It lost hope to be a symbol of life tomorrow and forever.

Lose yourself in your hard work and determination to realize your true potential.

Then one fine day, roots emerged from the seed. It became the way I survived. It quickly claimed its position to be my survival mechanism. It stored water for me.

Similarly in life, always have a support system to encourage you when you are disheartened and to celebrate your many successes with you.

Gradually the shoot came out of the seed. Not because of its strength, but its persistence.

Let it be a lesson in determination and how not “giving in” and “giving up” in life will eventually take you to great heights.

Then my shoot sprouted into brilliant green leaves and adorable buds. And surrounded by all those thorns, I begin to shape my life.

I dance on thorns all my life and yet am called the king of flowers.

I want to teach you all not to forget to bloom and spread beauty all around even if life is just not fair.

I stay on the plant for a limited time and people love me, care for me. But as soon as I wither and get separated from the tree, my beauty diminishes for most people. I am no longer a thing of beauty.

Learn the lesson to always be in touch with the flower inside you. Let it guide you through all your difficulties and take you on the path to make a difference.

Summing up my life in a few words, I would like to quote George William Curtis, “The fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose.” Always give yourself to people who need you and mostly to your desires.

There is only one way to succeed in anything and that is to give everything. – Vince Lombardi

A beautiful rose in my balcony

  1. Work hard and have faith in your abilities

  2. Have a group of people who act as your support system and do not let you fail.

  3. Don’t give up. Try it in different ways until it is done.

  4. Embrace failures and be a success in spite them. Never give hope. There’s always another chance.

  5. Be in touch with yourself. You lose that and you lose you. Game over.

  6. “There is only one way to succeed in anything and that is to give everything.” – Vince Lombardi
Give it  your everything. Everything it takes to get the task done. Every. Damn. Thing.

What did you learn from a rose?
